Onkas In Tight Battle with Old Collegians (0-26)
Onkas took on Old Collegians in muddy and wet conditions at Tregenza Oval
Onkas started with the kick-off heading South. Old Colls gathered and ran a few small hit-ups before kicking long. Blake picked the ball at the defence 40m and broke through three defenders before getting caught by the full back on the 22m. He passed but the ball fell loose. Onkas cleaned up and ran a few forward hit ups but lost the ball at a ruck and Colls pushed the ball to the wing and drew a penalty for offside. They kicked out just past the halfway. Colls won their lineout and pushed the ball to their centres, finding some space on the wing before being caught by Tom just before the 22m. After another centre crash, Colls pushed to the other wing and then to the forwards. Louie ripped the ball free in a tackle and Onkas crashed forward.
After a few hit ups, Dusty kicked and Colls returned the kick. Onkas took it forward but lost the ball at the ruck. Colls quickly pushed to the near wing but were caught and went back to the centres before chipping through. Blake recovered and Kaedan box kicked to halfway. Colls looked to have some space on the wing, but solid tackling by Brodie, Tom and Caelan stopped them and drew an Onkas penalty for not releasing. Dusty kicked the ball out just before the 40m. Onkas cleared the lineout and Dusty kicked through. Colls pushed it wide quickly and made some ground with some pops and forward hits. Onkas defence held strong and drew a penalty on the defensive 40m. Dusty kicked out and Old Colls managed to knock down the ball from the lineout. Colls ran wing to wing making it back just past halfway when Onkas drew another penalty and Dusty kicked out on the 40m.
Old Colls managed another steal at the lineout and kicked deep. Onkas knocked on at the 22m. From the scrum Colls went wide and their chip kick went out on the 5m. Despite a slight overthrow, Onkas won the lineout and Caelan hit it up and Dusty kicked. Old Colls managed to find some space but knocked on at the 22m. Onkas won their scrum and kicked for a lineout just past the midway. Colls took a short lineout and a couple of forward hits before passing to their backline and drawing a penalty for tackler not releasing. They kicked to just past the 40m and their throw was not straight. Onkas kicked deep and Colls returned the kick out on the 40m. Onkas won the line out and Dusty kicked but Colls marked the ball inside their 22m and kicked back. Dusty returned with a high kick that Blake almost recovered but the ball was knocked on in the air by Old Colls, resulting in an Onkas scrum. Old Colls received a penalty for Onkas pulling down in the scrum and kicked out just past the 40m. Colls won their lineout and pushed wide, Onkas received a defensive penalty, kicking out just before halfway.
From the lineout Onkas hit up then kicked high. Colls recovered and shot out to the far wing getting a penalty for Onkas offside and kicked out at the 22m. Old Colls took a long lineout and formed a maul, making it just past the 22m. A big tackle by Dusty and George drove Colls back but play went back for a Colls penalty and they kicked out on the 5m. Colls formed another maul, making it over the line for a try in the 30th minute.
Onkas 0 – Colls 7
Onkas kicked off high and Colls lifted their player to take the ball and then pushed to the centres, eventually receiving a penalty for high tackle and kicking out on their attacking 40m. The lineout wasn’t straight, but Onkas didn’t contest so Colls cleared with a kick, which Blake marked in the 22m. His kick went high and Colls fumbled the pass leading to a turnover. Onkas then knocked on and Colls played advantage, pushing forward and getting a penalty on the 22m for Onkas diving over. Colls formed another maul from the lineout and this time Onkas drew the penalty and kicked out just past the 22m. Colls stole the lineout and hit up in the centre before overthrowing and pushing the ball out. It was deemed forward so Onkas took the scrum. Kaedan made a break from the back and kicked, with Onkas getting a penalty for old Colls not releasing on their attacking 40m. Onkas opted to take a shot for goal, but the kick went wide. Colls kicked the drop-out deep where it was recovered by Rhys who passed to Liam, who made good ground, followed by Jack and Tom. Onkas then received a penalty for tackler not releasing and kicked out just before the 5m. Onkas tried a short lineout, but the ball was dropped. From the scrum Colls went to the centres then kicked to halfway. Onkas took a clean lineout and kicked; Colls returned the kick and Kaeden kicked back. Colls recovered and made a break up the wing before pushing back to the centre, finding an overlap on the far wing to score.
Onkas 0 – Colls 12
Onkas kicked high and Colls returned the kick deep. An unlucky bounce nearly let a Colls player through, but he knocked it on. Dusty kicked from the scrum and Colls kicked out to end the half.
HALF TIME: Onkas 0 – Colls 12
The second half started with a Colls kick-off, which was caught by Isaac. Jack hit up and Dusty kicked deep. Colls returned the kick and Kaedan caught the ball and kicked out at the halfway. Colls got caught at the lineout by Louie but managed to clear pushing past the midway with some backs runs and getting a penalty for Onkas diving over. The kick went out just inside the 22m. Colls formed a maul and drove forward before crashing up in the centres. Onkas defended well on the line and received a penalty for Colls offside. Dusty kicked and the Colls receiver was caught by Blake before he could make any ground. Colls knocked on but Onkas were penalised for offside. Colls took a tap and Caleb made a big hit, But Colls received a penalty. They kicked out on 5m and mauled again. Onkas held them on the line but the found some space wide and scored on the far wing.
Onkas 0 – Colls 19
Dusty’s kick went high and deep, but Colls kicked it back. Kaedan returned the kick out on the 40m. From the lineout, Colls went wide and Onkas received a penalty for not releasing and Dusty kicked out on the 22m. Onkas formed a maul from the lineout and got a decent drive before passing out to the backs. Tom and Rhys made some ground before Rhys was tackled out on the 22m. Colls kicked and Rhys caught it, taking it to midway and Onkas then lost the ball to a counter ruck. Onkas almost managed a steal but were penalised and Colls took a quick ball and then received another penalty, which they kicked out inside the 22m. Colls made a break from the lineout, pushing to the tryline but Onkas held firm and received a goal-line dropout. Dusty’s kick went deep and Colls attacked back up the midfield then kicking, but were offside and Onkas receive the penalty, kicking out on halfway. Colls stole the lineout and pushed wide but Onkas received the defensive penalty.
Dusty kicked out on halfway. Onkas pushed to Dusty, who kicked and Colls returned the kick out just before their attacking 22m. Colls stole the lineout and pushed wide, making some ground on the wing and then coming back to centre, receiving a penalty for high tackle. Onkas defended well on the line and stole the ball, kicking out at halfway. Colls went to the centre from their lineout and then pushed wide. Onkas stole from the ruck but lost the ball to a counter ruck and Colls kicked. Rhys recovered and ran it up. Onkas ran several hit ups and drew a penalty for Colls offside at the ruck. Dusty’s kick went out just past halfway.
Colls stole the lineout and pushed wide chipping over the top. Onkas recovered on the line and kicked deep. Colls ran back and knocked it on. Tom took a run from the scrum, and the ball went wide to Rhys who made a break past midway. Onkas took the ball back to midfield and George and Caleb broke the line. Onka continued to crash up, looking dangerous with pick and drives but the ball deemed knocked on. Colls ran the ball from the scrum then kicked high and short. Onkas recovered and again crashed at the Old Colls defence line inside the 5m before knocking on.
This time Colls kicked from the scrum and Blake caught and ran back to the 22m. The backs looked dangerous, but the ball trickled out on an overthrow. The lineout was overthrown and stolen by Onkas, who crashed up again and drew a penalty for Colls offside. Onkas took a quick tap and went wide, again crashing against the line. Colls received a penalty for Onkas offside and kicked. Onkas knocked on at the catch on the 40m.
Colls went wide from the scrum, going wing to wing and making some ground before Blake took the player down. Colls made another hit and drew a penalty on the 22m in front of goal. Colls kicked out just outside their 5m. They mauled from the lineout, but Onkas drew the penalty for truck-and-trailer and Dusty kicked out on the 40m. Old Colls stole the lineout and hit up the middle before pushing wide and knocking on. Onkas went blind from the scrum, making some good ground but being pushing out on the 40m.
Colls pushed the ball to the far wing and then kicked across field, recovering and making it over the line.

Onkas kick off went high and short and Onkas stole the ball, pushing forward with several hits. Driving past the 22m and drawing a penalty, which they played quickly. Onkas continued to hammer the line but then gave away a penalty and Colls kicked out to end the game.

Onka Women Get Big Win over Old Colls/Brighton (57-0)
The video for the Women’s game started late, with Onkas already in the lead 10-0 with tries to Caity and Kate.
The recording started with a scrum from Onkas just outside their attacking 22m. Onkas pushed wide from the scrum, from Olivia to Ashley, Danielle and then to Kate who crashed through the defensive line stepping around several defenders before being brought down right before the 5m. Onkas threw the ball wide and a slight overthrow led to a knock on and Colls scrum just outside the 5m.
Onkas defended well, holding Colls inside the 22m despite some solid drives and defensive pressure forced a knock on. Onkas played advantage and pushed to the backs, moving quickly. Grace picked from the back of the ruck and crashed over the line for a try. Ashley’s conversion was successful.
Onkas 17 – Colls 0
The Colls kick off fell to Grace who crashed up. Danica hit up the next ball and then Ashley kicked. Caity outran the opposition and soccered through, but an unlucky bounce helped Colls, who dived on the ball and knocked it on. The scrum collapsed, giving a penalty to Colls, who tapped and ran into a wall of red and black. Chelsea and Danica stole the ball, and the ball was pushed out to the wing. Onkas crossed the line but were called back for a forward pass.
The Colls number 8 ran from the back of the scrum and Colls went back into a wall of Onkas, eventually kicking. Olivia gathered the ball and made good ground, passed to Ashley who flicked the ball out to Kate who slipped through the line and scored.
Onkas 22 – Colls 0
Onkas recovered the kick off and crashed the ball up through the forwards, before spinning out to the backs, with the ball spinning out to Leah P on the wing. Leah ran from the defensive 40m to just past the 22m, when she was caught, and flicked the ball up. Kate gathered and took the ball into contact and Onkas crashed again through Grace and Danica and then pushed and Onkas crossed the tryline but lost control of the ball on the way down.
Onkas drove the scrum and stole the ball, but the scrum was reset. This time Colls broke blind and made a small break, but Onkas held solid on the attacking 22m driving Colls back, but Colls drew a penalty and tapped quickly and received another penalty. They tapped again and Onkas defence pushed them back to the 22m. After a few phases Colls made a break on the wing but were caught by Leah P just past halfway.
Colls continued to attack, making a small drive, but Onkas defence held firm. After several phases, Coll received another penalty and tapped quickly, making it to the 22m and drawing another penalty. Another quick tap led to the Colls player being held and halftime was called.
HALF TIME: Onkas 22 – Colls 0
The second half started with Colls kicking south. Charlotte caught the kickoff and crashed forward breaking a few tackles. The ball was then pushed to the backs and after a few hits ended up on the near wing. The ball was then spun back to Grace who broke through in midfield and made it past the 22m before eventually being brought down. A loose ball went wide, and Onkas regathered with Kate scooping up the ball and sliding over the line for a try.
Onkas 27 – Colls 0
The Colls kick off went low and Grace crashed forward. The ball then went to the wing with Leah P and Teresa hitting up well. Kayla crashed the next ball up, pushing through several defenders and then the ball came out to grace who broke through again. Onkas took advantage of the moment and spun the ball out along the backs with Shakira crossing the line for the points.
Onkas 32 – Colls 0
The kick fell short to Leah P, who passed to Grace. Danica took the next hit, crashing through the line and breaking several tackles. The ball fired out to the backs on the far side wing, and Onkas pushed past the 22m. Onkas crashed again but knocked on at the 22m. The Colls number 8 picked from the scrum but there was an injury in the scrum, so play was held up. The scrum was reset and the ball came out to the halfback who ran. Onkas came up fast in defence and pushed Colls back to the 22m. Colls attacked for several phases but failed to cross the 22m as Onkas defended well. They finally crossed with a drive, but Onkas managed to turnover in the ruck. Kaylas crashed the ball up powering past the 22m and almost making it to the 5m. The ball then spun out to the backs. Despite some loose ball, Onkas kept possession and Jade W crashed over the wing for a try.
Onkas 37 – Colls 0
Cheyenne collected the kick and crashed forward, Ashley then kicked deep, finding space and catching the fullback out of position. Caity chased up and put pressure on the opposition, drawing a penalty and Ashley kicked out on the 22m.
Onkas took a maul from the lineout but knocked on. From the scrum, Colls went to their centres and knocked on. Cheyenne received the ball from the scrum and drew the opposition, popping the ball out to Leah C who crossed on the wing for a try.
Onkas 42 – Colls 0
The kick bounced off a foot and unfortunately put Onkas offside, giving a penalty to Colls. Colls took the tap, but the runner was brought down by Grace. Ashley and Cheyenne caught the next runner, driving her back several meters. Colls tried to break down the wing and crash in the forwards, but Onkas defence held strong. Grace then managed to scoop up a loose ball and sent Onkas forward. Another big drive from Kayla and a kick from Ashley put Onkas back to their attacking 22m for a lineout.
Colls recovered the ball and tried to crash up, but some solid tackles held them inside their 22m. A wild pass went high and Caity swept through for an intercept and an Onkas try.
Onkas 47 – Colls 0
The kick fell to Kayla who sped up the field to the halfway and Ashley kicked deep. Caity dived over the line for a try.
Onkas 52 – Colls 0
The Colls kick slipped through Onkas, who gathered but knocked on. Colls cleared the scrum and pushed wide but knocked on. Ashley kicked from the scrum and Onkas swarmed the receiver, drawing a penalty for not releasing. Ashley’s kick bounced out just past the 22m.
Onkas set a fake maul from the lineout and popped out to Grace who passed to Leah C. The ball then shot out wide to Shakira who scored on the wing.
Onkas 57 – Colls 0
The kick was caught by Kayla who again charged up the middle. Caity took the next ball forward, but an overthrow trickled over the line and fulltime was called.

A depleted Onkas Reserves fought to the end in a tough battle against a fast Old Colls team.

Onkas thirds started well with a hat trick to Jamie Pavely, but struggled to keep up with a young Old Colls team in the second half, going down 17-45
