Onkas Fight Hard Against Brighton (13-54)
After a minute silence in respect for the Candice Martin, the mother of one of our U12 players, Onkas started, kicking north. The kick went high and Caleb knocked it back to Marios. Jack took the ball forward and Onkas attacked, receiving a penalty for high tackle just inside the 40m. Dusty kicked the Penalty.
Onkas 3 – Brighton 0
Brighton recovered their kick-off, pushing up in the forwards and then made a break on the wing, getting over for a try.
Onkas 3 – Brighton 7
The kick off went high and Brighton caught the ball, making a break and being caught just before the 22m. Brighton continued the attack up the wing, receiving a penalty in the 22m. They took a tap and hit up on the wing, giving away a penalty for not releasing. Onkas kicked out outside the 22m and win their lineout. After some back and forth between both sides Brighton stole an Onkas scrum leading to some Brighton phase play where they break the line and fumble a pass, causing Dusty too clear the ball for a Brighton lineout at the half way line. Brighton overthrow the lineout Onkas regather the ball and play a few phases before winning a penalty where Onkas choose to go for the 3 points, Dusty misses the penalty too the left. Brighton took the 22m drop out and kicked to Blake where the ball went through the hands to Tom Bray who kicked the ball into the air where Brodie received a yellow card for tackling in the air. Brighton kick the ball too the half way line where Brighton create a maul and pass the ball too the wing before going out for an Onkas lineout, Onkas win the lineout and fumble the ball right next too the posts before they drive the scrum over the line for a try.
Onkas 3 – Brighton 14
The kick off went high and landed at about the 10m line where Brighton played some phases before Jayden almost got an intercept on the wing. Brighton win the scrum then break the line, and winning a penalty on the 5m line. After a break in play due too injury Brighton take the tap and score a try under the posts.
Onkas 3 – Brighton 21
Onkas send a high kick off that is regathered just outside of the 22m line after a few pick and goes, Kaedan passed the ball too Louie who then passed one handed too find Rhys down the wing too score in the corner. Dusty’s conversion was unsuccessful.
Onkas 8 – Brighton 21
Onkas lose the kick off on the 10m line Brighton build a few phases then win a penalty. Brighton then knock the ball on after a maul from the lineout after some back and forth Brighton catch an Onkas clearance kick from a scrum make a line break and kick a grubber that goes out dead. Onkas build some momentum after winning a few penalty’s they lose a lineout that leads to Brighton winning a penalty for not rolling away where they kick for touch and get a lineout just outside the 22m line. Brighton play a few phases then make a break down the wing too score in the corner.

Halftime Onkas 8 – Brighton 26
Onkas catch the ball off the kick off and have a few big carries from Louie and Caleb leading too a high tackle on Marios. Onkas Kick the ball too touch just outside 22m line and win their line out. Onkas then win a penalty for not rolling away inside the 22m and choose a scrum. Onkas win the scrum and then play a few more phases before winning another penalty on the 5m line. Onkas choose a scrum and win the scrum, before being awarded another penalty. A quick tap gives Onkas another advantage before Kaedan finds Dusty on the wing, who steps the winger and fends off the centre too score in the corner. Dusty’s conversion was unsuccessful.

Brighton take the kick and they knock it on for a Onkas scrum Onkas clear the ball for a lineout. Brighton build some phases before winning a penalty, they kick the ball for touch where they overthrow the lineout but win a penalty for not releasing, They are then marched 10m before taking tap and pick and going before crossing the line for a try.
Onkas 13 – Brighton 33
Onkas kicked off and the ball landed about 5 meters behind the half way line for a Brighton scrum. Onkas win a penalty off of the scrum and kicked for the line. Onkas win the lineout and after a strong run from Tom Bray Onkas win another penalty where Tommy McColl takes the tap and beats 2 players. Onkas then play the ball too the wing and knock it on. After some back and forth action, Tommy McColl and the Brighton number 4 both saw a yellow card after a scuffle started. Brighton kicked for touch and won the lineout after a few phases Onkas defence caused a knock on for an Onkas scrum. Onkas Cleared the ball away after winning the scrum but after 2 phases Brighton broke through the defence and scored on the wing.

Onkas go short on the lineout and knock the ball on for a Brighton scrum. After lots of mistakes from both sides Brighton win a lineout inside the 10m and go down for a maul a quick ball out the back of the lineout causing a break where Brighton pass the and score in the corner.

Onkas kick off didn’t go the 10m and Brighton win a scrum Brighton pass too the wing and break the line scoring under the posts.

Onka Women Get Big Win Over University (67-5)
Onkas Women headed away from the club to take on University at Waite. In a muddy game f 14-a-side, the Onka women took home the points.
Uni started, kicking south, and the ball was dropped by Onkas leading to a scrum. Onkas gave away a free kick for pulling down the scrum and Uni took a quick tap. Uni hit up a couple of times and Onkas gave away a penalty for offside on the 22m. Uni kicked out on the 5m and knocked the ball down from their lineout, pushing to the centres. Some big drives by Uni were held by the Onka defence and eventually Onkas stole the ball and were given a scrum on the 5m. Uni drove the scrum back, but Onkas cleared and kicked out on the 22m. Onkas managed to knock down the lineout and got the ball to the backs who kicked deep. Onkas managed to soccer the ball, but Uni dived on it just outside their 5m, but Onkas stole the ruck and almost crossed the line before giving away a penalty, with Uni taking it as a scrum. Onkas stole the scrum and spun the ball wide with Leah C crossing for a try. Jade P’s conversion was successful.

Uni kicked and Grace powered forward, knocking down the first defender and popping to Caity, who drove to halfway. Uni stole the ball but were penalised for not releasing and Onkas kicked out on the 22m. From the lineout, onkas went to Jade P who crashed up the centres and then out to the backs. A loose ball in the ruck was stolen by Uni, who kicked the ball but play came back for a penalty to Uni on the 22m. Uni called a scrum and received a penalty for Onkas pulling down. Uni took the tap and ran, with Chelsea bringing the runner down. Uni continued the attack for several phases before losing the ball to a solid counter ruck. Caity made a hit in the centres and the ball spun out to Kayla on the wing, who ran from the 22m and scored.

Units kick fell to Grace who took it forward and then to Kayla who cashed up and Jade kicked it deep. Leah P collected the kick and crossed under the posts to score. Jade P’s conversion was successful.
Onkas 19 – Uni 0
Two Uni players came off from a head clash, bringing Uni to 12 players. Under the rules for the second half of the season, Onkas did not need to match numbers, having already matched numbers in the scrums.
Uni kicked and Kayla took the ball forward, before Olivia pushed it to the backs. Uni managed a steal at the ruck, but Onkas swarmed the player and received a scrum. Uni put on a big drive, but Onkas cleared and Jade P kicked. Uni recovered the ball and Onkas pushed up in defence forcing Uni backward to the 22m, where they knocked on. Onkas played advantage and Caity crashed up but the ball was lost forward in the muddy ruck. Uni cleared the scrum and ran blind, but were caught and forced back, with Onkas pinning them in the 5m. Uni kicked and Leah P picked up passing to Caity who passed to Kayla. Onkas pushed forward with Danica getting to the line, but the ball was stolen. Onkas stole it back and Grace crashed over for the try.

Uni’s kick was picked up by Kate who pushed through some defenders before Onkas went wide with some big drives. Onkas kept up the pressure, eventually spinning it the near wing where Caity almost made to the line. Danica crashed up and then popped back out to Caity who scored on the wing.
Onkas 29 - Uni 0
Uni kicked along the ground, and Danica picked it up and crashed through the pack. Onkas then knocked on. From the scrum, Uni pushed to the centres and received a penalty and called a scrum on halfway. After a few phases, Onkas received a penalty for a Uni push on a downed player. Onkas kicked but the ball stayed in. Uni came back through the forwards and knocked on. Onkas cleared the scrum and went wide with Kate weaving through the defence. Uni gave away a penalty and Danielle played on, breaking through her defender and scoring on the wing and halftime was called.
HALFTIME: Onka 34 – Uni 0
Onkas kicked deep and Uni ran back up the centres but lost the ball in a tackle. Onkas went inside from the scrum and then Jade P stepped her opposition and Grace crashed it up. Onkas tried pushing through the centres again and received a penalty for Uni not rolling away and kicked out on the 5m. Onkas mauled from the lineout and then spun the ball to the far wing where Leah C crossed for a try.
Onkas 39 – Uni 0
Uni’s kick skimmed the ground, past Onkas but Onkas recovered on the 22m and kicked, chasing down the Uni receiver and causing a knock-on. From the scrum, Onkas went to the centres and then wide with Caity breaking through the line to score under the posts and Jade P converted.
Onkas 46 – Uni 0
An unlucky bounce from kick-off just spilled over Onka’s heads, allowing Uni to catch it and cross for a try.
Onka 46 – Uni 5
From the kick-off, Uni took several phases, but Onkas held them inside the 40m and eventually a loose pass pushed them back to the 22m, but Onkas gave away a penalty. Uni took the scrum. They went wide then back inside but a big drive from Onkas pushed them back. A few more phases got Uni across the 22m, but they lost the ball to an accidental offside. Onkas took the scrum and went wide with the ball going to Cheyenne on the wing who stepped one defender and drove through another to score. Jade’s conversion was successful.
Onkas 53 – Uni 5
The Uni kick went deep, and Onkas returned with some big drives, getting a penalty on the 22m, kicking out on the 40m. Onkas went wide from the lineout and Leah P stepped her defender, running from the defensive 40m to score under the posts. Jade’s conversion was successful.
Onkas 60 – Uni 5
A short Uni kick fell to Isabelle who took the hit. The ball went to the backs and was knocked on. Uni won the scrum and attacked but Grace intercepted on the defensive 40m, running through to score. Jade’s conversion was successful.
Onkas 67 – Uni 5
From the kick-off, Onkas pushed wide and made a good break but solid defence by Uni held up the attack and drew a penalty on the 5m, which they called as a scrum. From the scrum, Uni kicked and Leah C almost crossed the line but play came back for an Onka penalty, which they kicked out on the 5m. Uni got a penalty from the lineout and tapped, trying to kick out to end the game. Vron managed to keep the ball in and Onkas received a penalty. They went wide and received another penalty for Uni pushing a downed player, which resulted in a yellow card. Uni receive the penalty for retaliation and kicked out to end the game.

Onkas Reserves Fight Hard Against Brighton (12-66)
The Reserve Grade was depleted by injuries and topped up with players from the Thirds who had already played a full game. Despite these challenges, they did the club proud, keeping their heads up and putting together some great plays.

Onka Third Grade Put in Strong Performance Against Brighton Gold (0-36)
Onkas Thirds struggled for numbers but put together a team to take on the undefeated Brighton Gold. A strong effort with some solid defence, saw the Thirds fight until to the last whistle
Two huge milestones were reached for the team, with Daniel “Daddles” Taylor reaching 350 games and Michael “Mooka” McGetterick playing his 250th.
