Round 14 - Match Report - Onkas vs Burnside

Onkas Go Down to Burnside (10-54)

After a few very physical games, the Premier grade had a number of injuries to key players but still played a solid game under wet and muddy conditions.

Burnside started, kicking north. The kick went deep and Dilfy crashed it up before kicking out on the 40m. Burnside mauled from the lineout, driving to the 22m before losing the ball at the ruck. Onkas took the ball forward but knocked on. From the scrum Burnside went wide and scored on the wing

Onkas 0 – Burnside 5

Onkas kicked high and Burnside knocked the ball forward. Onkas played advantage and lost the ball at a ruck. Burnside went wide but again, knocked on. After a quick scrum, Onkas flicked the ball to the backs but knocked on. Burnside kicked from the scrum, but the ball went out on the full and came back to just after midway. Burnside stole the line out and received a penalty at the ruck. The kicked out just before the 22m. Burnside set a maul bur quickly went wide, spinning the ball from one wing to another until the lost the ball. Onkas kicked back and Burnside recovered and received a penalty for offside just past halfway. Their kick went out on the 5m, and the ball spilled over the back of the lineout. Onkas recovered the ball and kicked out, just past the 22m. Burnside mauled from the lineout but were held up by Onkas, so they tried to break down the wing, throwing a loose pass at the 5m. Onkas received a scrum on the 5m. They hit up from the scrum but gave away a penalty for not releasing. Burnside kicked out at the 5m and then mauled. Onkas again held the maul up, but Burnside broke the side, driving close to the line. Onkas stole the ball and kicked, but Burnside recovered and ran up, knocking on at the 5m. Onkas crashed up from the scrum and received a penalty, kicking out on the 40m. Obkas went wide from the scrum and crashed back inside through Caleb. Tom made a break to the 22m, and Onkas went on the attack and received a penalty just inside the 22m, opting to take a scrum. The ball came out to Caleb and then Dilfy before coming back inside to Jack and Louie, receiving a penaly for high tackle. They tapped quick to Louie who crashed to the 5m, then spujn wide but lost the ball and the play came back for a not rolling away penalty on the 5m in front of goal. Tom D kicked the 3 points.

Onkas 3 – Burnside 5

Burnside kicked high and Onkas knocked on at the 22. Burnside ran several attacking phases before crossing the line.

Onkas 3 – Burnside 10

Onkas kick went high but Burnside caught, ran a couple of phases and the kicked long, putting the ball out on the 22m. After a couple of phases, Burnside crossed again

Onkas 3 – Burnside 17

The high kick-off went out just past the 40m for a Burnside lineout, which they knocked on at the back of the line. Burnside stole the scrum and kicked out on their attacking 22m. Onkas defended and stole the ball, kicking back to over halfway, where Burnside caught and chipped over the top. Onkas recovered and crashed up, eventually receiving a penalty and kicking. The ball stayed in, but Onkas received a scrum for a Burnside knock-on. Onkas spun to the backs, but the ball fell lose and Brodie recovered. After a few phases, Onkas kicked and chased down the runner on the halfway. Burnside threw to the wing, who was tackled out. Play went back and forth before Burnside scored on halftime.

HALF TIME: Onkas 3 - Burnside 24

Unfortunately, due to the wind, the Hudl camera became jammed on one half of the field, making it impossible to complete the match report. In the second half Tom Davies scored and converted for Onkas and Burnside scored at the 41st, 64th, 75th and 83rd minute, finishing the game at 10-54.

Onka Women Go Down to Souths/Burnside by a Kick (10-12)

Onkas Women were again away from the club, taking on Souths/Burnside at A A Bailies.  In extremely wet and muddy conditions, the tough game came down to kick.

Onkas Reserves Put up Valiant Fight Against Burnside (0-93)

The Reserve Grade struggled to put together a team due to injuries across the grade and a number of Third Graders and U18s stepped up to fill out the numbers. The team fought all day in wet and muddy conditions.

Onka Third Grade Forfeit (0-28)

Onkas Thirds forfeited this week due to a number of injuries in the other grades.
