Onkas Get Big Win Over Woodville (47-0)
Onkas travelled to Woodville in another important game, needing the win to keep in the running for the finals.
Onkas started with the kick north, which Woodville took forward, trying to punch up in the forwards before going to the backs. A solid tackle by Marios caused the Woodville player to spill the ball on Onkas attacking 22m, giving Onkas the scrum. Louie took the ball off the back of a messy scrum almost making it to the try-line, he tried a pop from the ground, but it was knocked on. Woodville cleared their scrum and kicked out just outside the 22m. Onkas mauled from the lineout, pushing forward until the maul started to collapse. The ball went out to the backs who passed it around but were unable to break the line. A solid drive by Cooper made some ground and a quick ball to Caleb drew a penalty on the 22m in front of goal for Woodville diving over. Dusty took the penalty, giving Onkas the early lead, 5 min into the game.
Onkas 3 – Woodville 0
A high kick was contested and knocked back with Onkas recovering and going forward. After several forward hits, Dusty kicked high and some strange bounces favoured Caelan who caught it on the second bounce. A pick and drive drew some players in and a second from Cooper broke the line making it to the 22m. Dilfy set the ruck but was yellow carded for interfering with an opponent and Woodville got the penalty, kicking out just past halfway.
Louie got a hand on the ball in the lineout, but the Woodville hooker caught it and passed to the backs. They made a break, but Onkas were quick in defence diving on a loose ball and then kicking long. Woodville recovered in their 22m and ran it forward drawing a penalty for Onkas tackler not releasing. The kick went out on the Woodville attacking 40m.
Woodville’s throw was not straight, giving Onkas a free kick. Louie crashed the ball up, and Dusty kicked high. Onkas knocked on in the aerial contest, giving Woodville a scrum on their defensive 40m. From the scrum, Woodville kicked deep. Blake gathered and took the ball forward. Dusty and Woodville kicked back and forth with Brodie chasing down an isolated Woodville receiver in his 22m. He was up quickly but Woodville cleared and kicked out just outside the 22m.
Woodville stole the lineout and Marios made a big tackle, lifting the Woodville player, who passed the ball out. Woodville then attacked the Onkas line for multiple phases before kicking. The ball came loose and Woodville kicked it through into open space. Onkas won the footrace but knocked on at their defensive 22m while trying to exit.
Onkas defence held solid as Woodville crashed against the line, but Woodville received a penalty inside the 22m, opting to scrum. Onkas defended several phases from the scrum as Woodville attacked the line, with an intercept by Cooper leading to a full field run and a try in the corner.
Onkas 8 – Woodville 0
Woodville kicked high and the ball bounced off Onkas in the air for a scrum. Woodville ran from the back of the scrum and then pushed to the centres. A loose ball slowed their momentum, and Onkas were up quick in defence, taking their space. A good tackle by Louie led to a jackal by Cooper and a penalty for Onkas. Dusty kicked out just past halfway. Onkas took a quick line and Dusty kicked deep. Woodville recovered and were caught in their 5m but managed to kick clear. Kaedan took the ball back and Onkas pushed the attack with a chip kick almost working but being recovered by Woodville. Play came back for an Onka penalty on the 22m in front of goal. Dusty took the 3 points.
Onkas 11 – Woodville 0
The Woodville kick went high and was caught by Marios. Caleb took the next hit and then Dusty kicked long. The Woodville fullback returned the kick and Cooper caught it at halfway, throwing off an opposition player and making it past the 40m. A big run by Isaac drew more players in and the ball went to Tom on the wing who found space and stepped several defenders before being brough down just before the 5m. Play came back for an offside penalty to Onkas. Dusty took another 3 points.
Onkas 14 – Woodville 0
The Woodville kick fell short and came back for a midfield scrum. Dusty kicked long and Woodville kicked back. Isaac made a good run but was hit hard just before the 22m. The ball came out to Caleb who burst through the line, being pulled down on the 22. Onkas continued to attack first in the forwards and then on the wing. A pop from the ground looked like it might put Onkas over the line, but it was knocked on at the 5m. Woodville ran from the scrum and then kicked out on the halfway. Onkas won the lineout and passed to the backs then back to the forwards. After a few phases Dusty kicked deep, and Brodie and Zac caught the return runner. Woodville were then penalised for diving over the ruck. Onkas kicked out on their attacking 40m. From the lineout Onkas lost the ball back over the line. Woodville won their lineout and went to the centres. The Onkas defence came up fast and kept them pinned behind the 40m until they knocked on. Kaedan was caught at the back of the scrum, and the ball was ripped down for a knock-on. The Woodville #8 picked from the back of the scrum, and they went forward with several phases, getting a penalty on their attacking 40m for a high tackle. They kicked out on the 22m.
Both sides knocked on from the lineout resulting in a scrum for Woodville just inside their attacking 22m. They pushed it wide and received a penalty on the 22, opting for a scrum. They formed a maul and pushed all the way to the line before knocking on to solid Onka defence. Onkas cleared the scrum and kicked out on the 22m.
Woodville won their lineout and went to the centres. Isaac made a good tackle and Jimmy got the jackal. Dusty cleared with a high kick. Woodville kicked back and the ball went out on the 22m.
A huge hit from Marios from the lineout crashed through the defenders and Dusty kicked long. Woodville returned the kick and Onkas kicked back. Woodville tried to kick but the ball was smothered by Jimmy who chased it down. Woodville kicked again, Onkas kicked back and the ball went dead for halftime.
HALFTIME: Onkas 14 – Woodville 0
Woodville opened, kicking north. The kick fell to Marios who took it up and then to Caleb who crashed forward. Dusty kicked deep and Onkas caught the ball carrier just inside the 40, forming a maul that the ball could not come out of. Onkas took the scrum and went to the centres and the back to the forwards. They had some loose ball but recovered and drew a penalty for Woodville tackler not releasing. Woodville were then marched for backchat, putting Onkas in front of goal about 30m out. Dusty took a penalty kick, but the ball went wide and dead.
Woodville took the 22m drop out, kicking high and deep. Blake took the ball and shot it out along the wing. Onka forced the ball forward but crossed the sideline just before the 40m. Woodville threw a long lineout but knocked on. Onkas cleared the scrum and pushed wide, getting a penalty in the ruck. Dusty kicked out just before the 22m. Onkas mauled from the lineout and quickly passed out to the backs ultimately knocking on. The Onka defensive wall held after the scrum and the pressure forced a Woodville knock-on. Onkas went on the attack again, pushing at the line with pick and drives and crashes. Kaedan pulled the ball from a ruck and passed out along the backline with Tom crossing on the wing for a try.
Onkas 19 – Woodville 0
Woodville kicked high and Big Tommy caught the ball, which was then pushed out to the backs and then kicked out just past halfway. Onkas stole the lineout and knocked it down to Jayden, receiving a penalty on halfway, kicking out on the 22m. Onkas stole another lineout but were deemed to have obstructed and were penalised and then marched for backchat. Woodville took the tap and ran but Onkas drove them back and drew a penalty for player not releasing. Cooper kicked out inside the 22. The lineout was deemed not straight, and Woodville took a quick free kick tap. Onkas again held them and pressured the attack until they kicked. Onkas got hands on the ball but knocked on. From the scrum, Woodville passed wide and kicked. Blake caught and ran down the wing breaking through the line and back into the centres. Jack then crashed up and Onkas then drove forward through the forwards getting right to the line but knocked on. Woodville ran from the back of the scrum, making some ground before being caught and Onkas stole the ball, crashing back forward and getting a penalty inside the 22m. Onkas took a scrum. The ball spun out to the centres and Onkas formed a maul. Kaedan picked from the back of the scrum and stepped back into the gap scoring under the posts. Tom D took the conversion and was successful.
Onkas 26 – Woodville 0
The kick fell just short and came back for a scrum. The scrum collapsed and Onkas received a penalty, with Kaedan taking a quick tap and spinning it out the backs. Blake kicked and Woodville returned. Kaedan caught the ball just past halfway and the backs made a break down the wing, being caught at the 22m. Onkas continued to power forward with big forward drives and a strong run from Caleb. Unfortunately, the ball was knocked on in the ruck. Woodville kicked from the scrum and regathered, but a tackle from Blake forced a loose pass and the ball went out just inside halfway. Onkas tried to take a quick lineout at the front, but Woodville got a hand to it. This worked anyway as Jayden regathered and kept the ball in. Tommy powered into a big hit and Onkas attacked again and received a penalty for Woodville offside. The kick went out on the 22m, and Onkas tried to maul but it went to ground. They continued to hit up and drove Woodville back, getting another penalty for offside. Big Tommy took the ball, tapped quickly and crashed over the line. Tom D’s conversion was successful.
Onkas 33 – Woodville 0
Woodville kicked high and deep, with Caleb catching and take the ball up. After a few good runs, Tom kicked the ball, but it went out on the full and came back to just inside the defensive 40m. Tommy caught the ball at the back of the line and passed to Jack, who crashed it up. Kaelan box kicked and Zac recovered, being hit high. This resulted in a penalty and a yellow card for Woodville. Cooper kicked out just outside the 40m. A quick lineout went to Tom, who kicked deep. The ball was caught by Onkas on the wing and popped out to Caelan who scored under the posts. Tom’s conversion was successful.

Kaelen gathered the kick and Onkas went forward again with Tom kicking deep. Woodville recovered and tried to run back but were caught and forced to kick. Blake crashed the ball right to the line and Onkas pushed to the line again, with the ball spinning to Tom D who crossed for a try under the posts. He converted and full time was called.

Onka Women Defeat Woodville (41-5)
Onkas Women took on Woodville, who were sitting second, on the ladder at Gleneagles (Woodville) for another big game, and a milestone 50th game for Allanah Searles.
The game started with Onkas kicking south. Woodville hit up in the forwards and centres, running multiple phases but being stopped by a wall of red and black. Eventually they kicked over the top. Cheyenne recovered the ball deep and took it forward, setting a ruck on the defensive 40m and drawing a penalty. Ashley kicked out on the attacking 40m.
Onkas got fingers to the ball in the lineout and Kayla gathered the loose ball, crashing into the Woodville pack. Onkas passed out wide, but the ball trickled loose and Woodville dived on it, passing it to their centres. A good tackle from a pick-and-drive caught a Woodville player isolated and a big drive by Chelsea and Jade P cleared out and Onkas stole the ball, going wide. Kayla made it to the 22m before being caught. Grace crashed through in the centres and then the ball spun out wide to Jade W who pushed to the 5m and managed to keep the ball in. The ball was passed to Caity who crashed up. A quick ruck got the ball to Ashley who stepped a defender and dived over to score.
Onkas 5 – Woodville 0
The Woodville kick-off went high and short and Danica caught it, fighting through three defenders before being brought down. Olivia passed to Ashley from the ruck and then to Grace who hit at pace on the wing. The next hit went to Kayla who crashed up to the attacking 40m. Ashley took the next hit, weaving and spinning through multiple defenders before the ball came out to Chelsea who smashed over the 40m. After a quick backs ball to Kate, it came back to Kayla in the forwards. Onkas continued to press the attack but a knock on led to advantage to Woodville who took it up the wing, finding some space. A huge tackle by Caity brought the player down on the halfway. Caity got to her feet quickly and cleared the ruck with Kayla, allowing Olivia to steal the ball. Jade P kicked deep but Onkas were penalised for offside on halfway. Woodville kicked out just past the 40m.
Caity got a hand to the ball in the lineout, but Woodville recovered the scrappy ball. Chelsea dragged the ball carrier down and Grace tackled the next runner on the 40m. Woodville tried to go wide and then stepped back in, attacking next through the forwards. Onkas defended well and forced a knock on in a tackle on the 40m. A strong scrum by Onkas led to a very deep kick by Ashley that rolled to a stop just before the try line. The Woodville fullback got there just before Onkas and kicked back. Onkas were penalised for offside just inside the attacking 40m.
Woodville kicked out just past halfway, but the ball stayed in and Kate made a break down the wing to the 22m before switching to Shakira coming back inside. A quick ball from the ruck found Kayla who broke the first line of defenders and Onkas found an overlap on the wing, with Leah C making a break and scoring.
Onkas 10 – Woodville 0
Woodville kicked straight to Danica who powered her way forward and Ashley then kicked down the line, with the ball going out just before the 22m. Woodville cleared the line but then knocked on, with Onkas playing advantage out to the wing with quick hands. Unfortunately, a knock-on set a scrum on the 22m. Despite a strong Onkas drive, Woodville cleared to their backs but were shut down by solid tackles and forced to the wing where they were driven out by Ashley. An overthrow in the lineout fell to Chantelle who crashed through the line. Onkas tried a quick ball, but it was dropped and Woodville dived on it. Good defensive pressure held Woodville back and they eventually kicked. Onkas recovered and Ashley kicked back. Woodville touched the ball down over the try line for a goal-line drop out. Leah caught the kick and crashed forward, making some good ground, quick hands got the ball to Kate, who crossed on an overlap to score.
Onkas 15 – Woodville 0
The kick went high and short and Woodville stole it in the air, however a couple of tackles spilt the ball loose and Chelsea picked it up and went forward. Onkas hit up through Kayla and then Ashley kicked long, putting the ball out just before the attacking 22m. The Woodville lineout went long and bounced up with Woodville just retaining possession. They threw some messy passes due to pressure from Onkas and then chipped through. Kate gathered and Onkas went on the attack again. Leah made a big break down the wing and was hit high in a tackle on the 22m resulting in a penalty and yellow card. Ashley kicked out on the 5m line.
Onkas mauled from the lineout, but the maul broke up and the ball came out to the backline and then spilt forward in a tackle and then went out off Woodville. Onkas won the lineout and pushed the ball wide but lost the ball to a knock-on, forming a scrum inside the 22m. Onkas won the scrum and stole the ball, and the backs attacked through Jade P and Kate and then continued to crash to the line before a Woodville player went down injured and the ref held the game up. The restart was an onkas penalty on the 5m. After a couple of forward hit-ups the ball came out to Ashley who ran around her opponent to score under the posts. Jade P’s conversion was successful.

Woodville kicked high and Grace caught the ball running through the whole forward pack to score.
Onkas 27 – Woodville 0
The next kick bounced to Kayla who crashed it up and Ashley kicked, but Onkas were penalised for offside. Woodville tapped and their big runners made some ground before losing the ball forward to Onkas, who gave away a penalty for not releasing. Woodville tapped quickly and attacked for a few phases before finding space in the backs and crossing for a try at half time.
HALF TIME: Onkas 27 – Woodville 5
Woodville started the second half with a high kick which was caught on the bounce and passed the backs. Jade kicked through and a Woodville recovered, taking it forward. A big drive by Grace pushed them back over halfway and in the next play Teresa took a hit to the head. Play was halted and restarted with a scrum to Woodville just after halfway. From the scrum, Woodville went wide and then crashed into Chantelle, clashing heads. The player dropped the ball and then slowly went down. Game was halted while the player was treated and then came back for a Woodville penalty for high hit. Woodville took the tap and ran into a wall of Onkas, with two players crossing over each other for an accidental offside and an Onkas scrum.
Onkas kicked and Woodville recovered but gave a penalty at halfway for not releasing. Ashley kicked and the ball fell just short of the line. Woodville collected it and were tackled out by Caity. Onkas took a clean lineout and passed to the backs making it to the 22m and drawing an offside penalty. Ashley kicked out just before the 5m. The throw wasn’t straight and Woodville took a free kick, tapping and running. After several phases they kicked to halfway where Danielle dived on the ball. Kayla took it forward and then Ashley chipped over the top, recovering her own ball and diving over the line to score. Jade’s conversion was successful.
Onka 34 – Woodville 5
Woodville’s kick bounced out on the 40m, but the lineout was deemed not straight, and Woodville took a free kick. They attacked the line several times, but Onka defence forced small errors which stopped them from building momentum. Danica almost got an intercept but play came back for an Onkas knock-on. From the scrum, Woodville went on the attack but gave away a penalty for not releasing. Ashley kicked out on the defensive 40m. Onkas cleared the lineout and threw to the backs but lost the ball in a tackle. Woodville then received a penalty for Onkas offside. Woodville tapped and ran, after a few phases they drew another offside penalty and tapped again. Onkas defence held firm but gave another penalty away. Woodville tapped again but this time Kate took an intercept and broke clear, but play was called back for another Onka player offside. Woodville tapped again and kicked over the top but were accidentally offside (played crossed over) so Onkas received a scrum just inside their defensive 22m.
Woodville ended up with another offside penalty, this time on their 5m line. The Onka defence came up fast and pushed them back to the 22m. Woodville then threw to the nearside wing, making a break until Kayla made a try-saving tackle, stripping the ball on the try line.
From the scrum, Onkas kicked and Woodville caught and attacked, drawing another penalty on the 22m. They tapped and a good tackle by Grace and some good rucking drew an Onka penalty, which was kicked out just outside the 22m. From the lineout, Onkas kicked but gave away an offside penalty. Woodville tapped and ran again, but Onkas defence was too strong forcing a forward pass.
From the scrum, Ashley kicked out on the 22m. From the lineout the ball went out to Jade W on the wing, who broke several tackles and ran the length of the field to score. Ashley’s conversion was successful.

Onkas Reserves Get Another Good Win Over Woodville (31-24)
The Reserve Grade continued their good form getting a solid win over Woodville in a tight and tough game. The Bs proved too good, coming from behind to win by 7 points.
